An unusual course has necessarily | beon adopted in regard to the ports of disc'liargo of the Dutch steamer Riouw, which is now at Auckland (says the "Herald"). The vessel was originally loaded, with tho ! intention of passing through the Panama Canal, Auckland to bo°the first port of call, Wellington, Sydney, and Melbourne to be noxt visited in that order. The slips in tlio canal, however, made it % necessary for tho vessel to proceed, via Cape Town, and, following this course, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, would be the natural ports of call. Owing to the Auckland cargo, being loaded last the original programme has to be followed. Despite the fact that a call had to bo made at Melbourne for coal, the vessel had to practically pass Australia, and will have to return to tho Commonwealth ports after discharging her Now Zealand cargo.
