The following fit men were enrolled at Buckle Street yesterday:— Walter Sheriff, shepherd, City (Infantry). - Harry E. Redstone, commercial traveller, Hataitai (Artillery). Richard Williams, seaman, Roseneath (Mounted). , George Griffiths, steward, City (Home Service). . . George S. Devenport, draper s assistant (Home Service). James Charles Greig, postal clerk, Newtown (Engineers)., Frank George Eyres, clerk (Infantry N.C.0.). Joseph White, miner, City (Infantry).
Other Matters. Fifty-sight Ambulance men for tho hospital ship Malieno are camping at Buckle Street Drill Hall. They arrived from Awapuni yesterday. Several dentists' orderlies are said to bo wanted for the camps, and it is added that they must be returned soldiers unfit for further active service. Donations of Remounts. ' Messrs. Hugh Cameron, Turakina, 0. S. A\ r atkins, Silverst-reaw, and Hugh Gillies, Palmerston North have each donated a very fine remount to the State through the Defence authorities. THE TRAININC GROUNDS. TAUHERENIKAU CAMP. At Tauherenikau the following temporary appointments have been made: — j->tc. I'. a. H. Chambers Headquarters Staff, Camp Commandant's Office, to be corporal; Pte. A. U. Bewick, N.Zi.M.C., to be lance-corporal; Corpl. I. Bury, N.Z.M.C., to be sergeant; Pte. G. H. Richards, E Company, 10th, to_ bo lance-corporal; Pte! F. W. Wamwnght, E Company, 10th, to be lance-corporal. Lieut. AV. D. Roddock, Auckland Mounted Rifles (Main Body), has re- - ported for duty, aud is atf-ached to A Squadron, 10th Reinforcements.

AUCKLAND EFFORTS. By Telegraph—Press Association, Auckland, January 21. During the week ended Thursday the total number of men who enlisted in the. four military groups in the Auckland district totalled 1005, compared with 894 for the previous week. The infantry totalled 386, and mounted rifles 150. The. position is regarded as very satisfactory for the Thirteenth Reinforcements. Before a recruit goes into camp It is the custom for his frionds to make him a presentation. Mr. A. E..M. Rowland states that he is prepared to give a special rebate of 15 per cent.
