All classes of stock were keenly competed for, and high )>riees wero realised. Thoy report abrolulely a total clearance under the hammer. BURNSIDE MARKET. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, January 18. At. Bumside to-day 363 fat cattle were yarded. The quality, was only fair, with the exception of an odd pen of prime cattle. The prices at the beginning wero up to last week, b"it cased at the close, showing a deelino from 20s. to 30s. a head. Best bullocks fetched £16 to £17; extra prime, £19 75." 6d.; medium, £13 10s. to £15; inferior and li-jht, £11 to £12 IDs.; best cows and heifers, £12 to £13; extra, to £14; medium, £8 10s. to £9 10s.; inferior, £5 10s. to £7 10s.; dairy cows, to £10; calves, to £2 12s. Pat Sheep.—Tliere was a fair yarding of medium to good quality. Competition opened below last week, but freezing buyers operated freely, and values hardened. Heavy-weight ewes suU'erod considerably in price, butchers being a little afraid of this class of stock owing to the hot weather. Best wethers, 265. to 285.; extra, 'to 325.: medium, 235. to 255.; light and unfinished, 19s. to 215.; best ewes, 245. to 265.; extra, to 305.; medium, 21s. to 225. 6d.; light and inferior, 16s. to 18s. Fat Lambs.T-There was a good yarding, but the quality was. indifferent, with the exception of a fow pens. Competition was steady, freezing buyers operating freely, and last week's prices wero well maintained. Best lambs, 19s. to 215.; extra, to 275. 6d.; medium, 16s. 6d. to 18s. 6d.; light and unfinished, to 14s. 6d. Pigs, to £4 16s.
