NO SYDNEY BOAT
The steamer Ulimaroa has been taken by the New Zealand Government for war purposes. This steamer was in the Wellington-Sydney run regularly, and was' the' outward Australian mail steamer for this week. As a result of the commandeering of the vessel, there will be no Sydney steamer this week, as apparently another steamer cannot be found at once to put in tho aim. For the convenience of passengers who must reach Sydney, tho Eiuddart-Parker Company announce that the Riverina will bo delayed in Auckland to-day until the arrival of the Mam Trunk express, which left Wellington last night. The Defencc Minister, referring to the taking of the ship yesterday, said that the Government had need of more steamers, and must obtain them. They could not take cargo carriers, because theso were urgently required to carry Homo wool and meat, which were needed there. The Government had considered everything.
