NIBBLING IN THE WEST
GERMANS CEASELESSLY HARASSED. By Telegraph—Prose Association—CoDl'.rlslit ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) (Rec. January 18, -5.5 p.m.) London, January 17. Correspondents at British Headquarters in France agree that the winter warfaro is ceaselessly reducing _ the enemy. Our cutting-out expeditions, mostly by bombing parties, are numerous, and every keen subaltern is anxious to lead their festive men across the dead ground. The Canadians are especially good, perhaps because their ranks include trained trappers. The Germans dread these parties, and are lighting up the moonless nights with flares and star shells. Since the battle of Loos the Germans have suffered casualties equal to the losses of several battles, through tlio superiority of our shelling and the adventurousness of our men.
