GROUP MEETING ASTRENTHAM . RECORD ENTRIES The tomtorials, senior cadets, and members of rifle clubs ill No. 5 group held their annual meeting at Trentliam ranges on Saturday. There was a record number of entries, which totalled some 230 altogether, and excellent weather conditions prevailed. There were five matches on Saturday, tie concluding one being a terms' match. At last year's meeting the programme was spread throughout one whole day, whereas this year it had to be compressed into an afternoon. Complete results of the matches, it was officially explained on Saturday, would not be available till the beginning of the following week. Major A. A. Corrigaa (Officer Commanding No. 5 Group) was the chief range officer, and ho was- assisted by Captain Willoughby and Lieut. Findlay. THE SUBURBS CLUB. The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club continued trophy shooting on Saturday at their range Broadway, iliramar, at ranges 300 yds. and 600 yds., ten-shot match. Nest Saturday the ctub's annual "Daily Mail" shoot will not bo fired, owing to the Manawatn Rifle meeting being held on that date, thirteen members of the club competing at this meeting. For members not visiting Palmerston North on Saturday, the club will lire a special handicap match at Hiramar, at ranges 200, 300, 500, 600, 700, and 800 yds., seven shots at cach range.
