Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Ageiicy Co., Ltd., Dannevirke, report-.—At the Miller's lload sale yards, on Friday, v.-o held our first sale of 1916, at which we offered soveral good linos of sheep and a good yarding of cattle, all well up to standard. All classes of stock an advance on priccs ruling before Christmas. Our sales were as follow:—Fat cows, £8 to fat heifers, £6 to £8; forward cows, empty, £4 to £6 lfc.; two-year steers, £6 55.; eighteen-month steers, £4 l£e. to £4 Bs. 6d.; two and a half-year heifers, empty, £5 17s. 6d.; fifteen-month heifers, £3 ss.- fifteenmonth steers, £4 (is.; bulls, £3 2s. 6d. to £6;' dairy heifers (near calving), £6 15s. to. £7 2s. >6d.; pigs (suckers), 7s. 6d.; slips, 15s. to £1 Bs. On Monday, at Woodville, there was a small yarding of both sheep aud cattle, and' prices were well maintained. P.M. breeding ewes (old), 14s. At tho Ma-kotuku saleyards, on Wednesday, there was a fairly good yarding of cattle, but sheep were nil, with the exception of one pen of good in.s. lambs in wool, which brought 17s. Bidding upon all classes of good forward cattle was keen. Two-year steers, £4 to £5 155.; eighteen-month heifers, £3 to £ 4155.; fifteen-month heifers. £3;. fifteen-month steers, £3 155.; mixed weaner calves, £2 7s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Feilding sale on Friday as followsWc offered a moderate yarding of both sheep and cattle. Lambs were in pood demand, and sold rapidly.
