Captain Hugh Stewart, -who has just been awarded a Military Cross, was a Professor of Classics at Canterbury College before he enlisted. He is an M.A. of Cambridge and was Lieutenant in the Territorials at Home. He joined the Main Expeditionary Force with the intention of rejoining his regiment on arrival in England, He has, however, remained with the Nciv Zealand Forces, and was with them in the first landing at Qallipoli and throughout the campaign. During tho campaign he was promoted captain, and for a short timo aftor Colonel Bauchop's death was in command of tho Otago Battalion.
