PATRIOTIC EXHIBITION
'A meeting of the committee.in charge of arrangements connected with hibition of British and Allies' goods! to be held in the Town Hall, Wellington, in February next, met on Wednesday. There were present: Messrs. J. F. Atkins, L. T. Watkins, E. T. Doddrell, H. A. Read, AVm. Smith, and Arthur Pefcherick (secretary). Owing to the departure of Mr. L. Ash-croft-Edwards on a business trip to Canada and the United States, Mr. L. T. Watkins was appointed chairman of the committee. The exhibits manager was authorised to proceed with the arrangements for decorations and erection of stalls, aiii! permitted to expend a sum not exceedmg £100 for the work. Mr. Tracy, of the Y.M.Q.A., announced his willingness to assist the exhibition with a display by his physical culture team that has won such commendation for the Y.M.C.A. A meeting of exhibitors is to bo held in the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce rooms on Monday next, at 3 p.m., to arrange the form of pamphlet or exhibition souvenir to be issued, aaid to dccide whether picture films shall b9 exhibited. ( It was decided to request some of the ladies interested in the nowl.v r formed Anti-German League to give sliort addresses during Exhibition Week, upon '"How to shop." Messrs. C. M. Luke arid F. J. Evans were appointed a deputation to wait on the General Manager for Railways in an endeavour to secure excursion and week-end fares for travellers to Wellington. The chairman (Mr. Watkins) announced that he had approached members of the 'Wellington Master Retail Drapers' Association, and was hopeful that the association would arrange a joint display. Authority was granted the joint managers and the exhibits manager to let space in the gallery if required, and fix prices for same. The Defence _ Department intimated that it would give a display of munilion.s, -whilst the Wellington Harbour Board, Union Steam Ship Company, Tourist Department, Mines Department, and Agricultural Department, and Technical Education Board would be requested to arrange exhibits'. A letter of appreciation was ordered to be sent to Mr. Robert Macauley for his offer of gratuitous services in distributing advertising matter connected jvith. ilia exhibition,
