The up-river country, from Balclutha to Tuapeka Mouth, is a picture of prosperity, says Uie Clutha "Lender." In the Greenfield district many oat crops are turning colour, and all the way up tho road the turnips aro to be seen coming through well. It appeared ns if Messrs. Jones and V. Wilson ag,-\in liavo the most' forward cereal crops. Shearing appears to be completed, but at Mr. l'annet's up-to-date shed at Upper Clydevalo, where machines are installed, there is still a good deal of work in progress. About 7000 sheep had been put through this shed so far. The steamer Clutha was up till_ tho holidays busily engaged in bringing down wool, and on Tuesday she tho service. A glance at'the interior of the board's sheds up-river shows that there is still a good lot of wool lo be brought down.
