SECOND MATE DROAVNED. By Telegraph—Prees Association. New Plymouth, January 13. L. Jensen, second mate of tho schooner C. S. Holmes, just arrived from Puget Sound, was drowned in the harbour last night. He appears to have missed his footing when going aboard. SUICIDE OF A PENSIONER. Auckland, January 13. An old age i>ansioner named AA'arkwick Ashdown Singer committed suicide at Swanson by jumping into a creek. He left a letter indicating his intention, and stating that he had come to tho conclusion that life was not worth living. * \
