MANUKA'S LATE ARRIVAL. Evidently the Manuka, from Sydney to Wellington, has encountered rough weather. A wireless message received from Captain Clift stated that ho did not expect the vessel to reach port till 4 a.m. to-day. The vessel will berth at the Queen s Wharf, No. 1 south, at ahout 7 a.m. KUMAEA LEAVES LONDON. The head office of the Shaw, Savill and Albion' Company has been advised that the Kitmara cleared London on January for the four New Zealand main ports. Auckland should be rcached about February 22, and Wellington a few days later. ASHBURTON TO LOAD. For the purpose of commencing Homeward loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Aehburton will leave Sydney to-day for Port Chalmers. Other New Zealand ports will be visited before the vessel leaves these waters for London towards the end of the month. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. ' Mr. G. A. Dickey has signed on the Poherua as second engineer. Mr. J. Shearer, late third of the vessel, has gone south for orders. . „ ... ~ Mr H. C. White, second officer of the Kamona, has signed off that vessel's articles. Messrs. J. Dalziel, J. E. Dugilale, and D. M'Bean, chief, second, and third engineers respectively., have also signed off the Kalnona's articles. . Mr. E. G. Revington, sixth engineer of the Maori, was compelled to come ashore yesterday on account of ill-health. Mr. Maploson, second engineer of the Ngahere, having come ashore on holiday leave, Mr. M'Lean has filled the vacancy.

The local office of the F. and S. Lino an■ticipate that their chartered steamer Westmeath will arrive here from Napier either on TEursdav evening or Eriday morning. If tho whole of her Boston and New Yorl; cargo can be lifted in time, the vessel will sail for the United States ports at daybreak on Sunday. . . On account of strong southerly weather on the East Coast, the Kipple was unable £o work coast stations on her run down from Gisbornc this trip. The Squall, which Was to have left Napier last evening, will make an attempt to pick up the cargo which is ofl'cring. Before going on to New Plymouth to-day to load up dairy produce transhipments for the Limerick and Corinthle, the Cormna Will land about- 500 tons of southern cargo here. . Endeavours are being made to aispatcn the Shaw-Savill liner Athenic for London at noon to-morrow. She is due at her destination on February. 24. From Wellington the Nerehana will proceed to-morrow to Tokomaru Bay, Gisbornc, and Napier. Eeturning to this port subsequently the vessel will sail for London towards the end of this month. Discharge of the Wellington portion of the Pakelia's London cargo at the Kings Wharf Is expected to be completed in time for tTic liner to leave for southern ports on Friday next. The Union Company's Kamona is at present undergoing overhaul and survey here, and it is expected to dispatch her for Westport on Thursday next. Tho departuro of * the Hinemoa ■ (on her periodical vi«it to northern lighthouses) lias been postponed till to-morrow evening. It is anticipated that tho vessel will bo absent about five weeks. At noon on Saturday the auxiliary ecow Houto cleared Hokianga Heads for Wellington with a full load of timber. She should make port towards the end of this week. The Vacuum Oil Oompanys chartered steamer Baron Cawdor arrived in port from New York yesterday morning, and berthed at the Pipitea Breastwork. She has about 60,000 cases of oil to land before proceeding on to southern ports. The New Zealand Shipping Company s chartered steamer Century has been fixed to leave for London, via Monte Video' and Teneriffe, to-morrow morning. The Wakatu is at present undergoing overhaul and survey at Lyttelton, and tho Awahou has been substituted to make a trip to Kaikoura and back The latter vessel is being cleaned and painted here, and will sail at 4 p.m. Timber-laden, the American schooner C. S. Ilolnies, 409 tons, Captain Backlund, has arrived at Now Plymouth from Port Gamble (Puget Sound), after a smart passage of under two months.
