ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FOUND DEAD IN A WOOLSHED. 1 By Telegraph—Press Association. PahiatUß, January 10. Donald Fraser, widower, a well-known settler, was found dead in a woolshed at Puketoi, Pongaroa. It is believed that deceased had been brooding a good deal over an unsuccessful land transaction. A wound was found in the front of the head. A SOLDIER'S SUICIDE. Dunedin, January 10. An inquest was held to-day regarding the death of William John Willis, one of the men who returned by the Maheno on January 5, and who committed suicide at Dunedin Hospital by cutting his throat. The evidence showed that deceased was suffering from dysentery, but the case was not a bad one. The patient -was cheery and gave no evidence of.mental trouble. A razor was in the locker at the where the Hospital authorities said it wa-s customary ft) keep toilet articles. The Coroner, Mr. J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., said he could not qualify the verdict. He found that deceased committed suicide by cutting his throat, and recommended that the Hospital authorities take into consideration the matter of removing dangerous articles from the bedsides _ of patients, thereby removing temptation.
