AFFAIRS IN SAMOA
NATIVES WELL CONTENT. The Defence ■ Minister has had some conversation with Colonel Logan about affairs at Samoa. | 'As far as I can juclgo things are going oiuvcry well in Samoa," said Mr. Allen yesterday. "The natives are well satisfied with the state of affairs. Tho only native who was at all likely to cause trouble is now deceased, and apparently everything is very satisfactory-. The removal and internment in New Zealand of some of the Germans from the island has done a tremendous lot to straighten things out there. This has liad a considerable moral effect on the natives and the other Germans. There are difficult problems to be faced in Samoa yet,' especially, the labour question, but that I cannot discuss."
