Total votes—so,B6o. No. 8, Fern Flat School doll, was declared Queen of the Carnival. The cash received from votes at Id. each totalled £214 2s. lid., and the expenses of the Carnival were- less than £6, leaving a balance of £208 9s. Id., which has been handed to the Red Cross Fund. Considering Murchison County has a population of about 1100, and that £175 was donated to the Red Cross in 'November, besides over £130 to the Rick <md Wounded Fund, the result of the Carnival speaks well for the way in which the residents of tho county have responded to the call for money. In men this county_ has also responded valiantly, over oighty men having enlisted from Murchison during the currency of the war, thus proving that on a population basis Murchison County is doing its share.
