A cablegram was received by the Union Company late laet evening stating that the Mooraki had left there for Wellington at 3 p.m. She is due here on Monday morning, and has 88 saloon and 90 Bteerage passengers on board, as well as 799 tons of cargo. Included in the latter are 388 cases of fruit. EUAHINE FROM LONDON. En route from London and Capo Town the New Zealand Shipping Company s Ruahine has left Hobart for Auckland, where she is duo on Tuesday next. Wellington should be made about January 7 or 8. PAKEHA AT AUCKLAND. An arrival at Auckland from Liverpool direct yesterday morning was the ShawSavill liner Pakeha. After landing tho northern portion of her cargo tho vessel -will reach here- about January 8 or 10. CONCERNING THE WAIHORA. Tho Union Company's steamer Waihora, en route from Eastern ports, is. due ot Auckland about January 10, and at Wellington about five days later. As the vessel hae been acquired for other purposes, instead of taking the March loading at Calcutta for New Zealand porta, slio will not leave there till some time in April next, MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain G. Griffiths is still in charge of the O. and D. liner Nerehana, and has the following officers associated with him:— Chief, Mr. W. Allen; seconiL Mr. J. F. Robertson; third, Mr. W. B. Sadler, chief engineer of the pourika,. has come ashore. Ml'. 0. D. Hughes has been engaged as fourth officer of the Victoria, and Mr. G. Gornlie bas joined the vessel as wireless operator.
The Taluno left Suva for Auckland at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, ami is duo there on Monday. Her cargo includes 858 cases of bananas for transhipment to Wellington. After discharßing about 50,000 cases - of New York oil on behalf of hor charterers— the Tacuum Oil Company—tho Baron Cawdor, which is at present at Auckland, will come on to Wellington. Subsequently the vessel will visit southern ports to complete discharge. ' An average speed of nearly 14 Knots per hour was maintained by the Kia Ora on tho run up from Timaru to Wellington. The distance is 292 miles, and tho, vessel cut it out in the smart time of nineteen hours. .
An expected arrival iii port to-day is the 0. and J), liner Star of India from Napier. She wilt fill up here and take her departure for London, via Las Falmae, on ruesday next. The tfliuw-Savill chartered steamer Ocean Monarch is due from Lyttelton to-morrow. Homeward loading will bo completed at this port, and departure taken for London about January fi. „ , Laden with about 6000 crates of cheese and 11,000 boxes of butter, the Corinna is due here from Rew Plymouth to-morrow. Jler freight -will be transhipped. to tlie licmuera for London. The Corinna wiiL leave for ' Duuedin direct on Monday, January 3. Continuing iter journey from Grcymouth the Arahura left Westport at 5 a.m. yesterday. Being well up to time, the vessel should arrive here early thisinormug. A special trip will be made to Picton and back to-day, the Arahura taking her departure from this port at noon. 'Die lvoromiko is at present at Port Chalmers undergoing her annuaL overhaul and survey. , , . ' . A transport is orpectcd to arrive at Port Chalmers to-morrow, but it is understood that she has no men on board other than the crew. _ , Consignees of cargo by the Paloono- are requested to note that the vessel will leave Wellington at noon to-day lor Duuedin direct, thus omitting the usual call at Lyttelton tliis trip.
