TECHNICAL EDUCATION BOARD
'At a spccial meeting of the Technical Education Board held ou Wednesday afternoon, Mr. 6. Frost, presided, the other members ; present bciil£,-: Messrs. J. 15. Fitzgerald, W. H. Field, M.P., T. Ballinger, A. Atkins, W. H. Bennett, and C. M. Luke. Applications for tho position of assistant science master were considered, and it was left to Mr. Frost and' the director to make tlie final appointment. The Wellington Master Plumbers' Industrial Union of Employers -wrote offering for competition during 1916, three medals for first-year, second-year, and third-year students, to be awarded for good behaviour and general progress. The union was thanked for their offer, which was accepted. Mr. W. Eamsliaw, engineering instructor, who holds an extra firstclass Board of Trade certificate as a marine engineer, was granted leave of absence for the duration of the war. It was decided to allow Mr. Earnshaw half-pay up to the time of bis joining tho Navy and thereafter to make up his pay to what he had been receiving from the board. An offer was received from the New Zealand Institute of twenty octavo volumes of the transactions of the Institute for the Technical School Library, the books to become the'property of the board. It was agreed to accept the offer and to thank tho Institute. .
