"A DAY OF INTERCESSION."
Sir, —I.notice in The Dominion of December 20 that January 2 is to be observed as "a day of intercession." It is also the date for tho commencement of "universal week of prayer;" organised by the Evangelical Alliance, and observed annually since 1846. It is earnestly hoped that the first Lord's Day of another year will bo observed again "with almost universal acceptance as a special day of intercession in connection with the war." His Majesty the King has approved such united observance of the day, tho Federal Government of Australia, wo are informed, lias appointed a day of special prayer on that date. Churches are preparing for day of intercession, as suggested. ; It may surely be expected at such a time that duo attention mil bo given to another day of united intercession. The daily call to prayer at noon receives attention from many. May it soon ring out for tlianskgiving for victory and peace with honour.—l am, etc., , ■ WILLIAM SHIRER. St. James's Presbyterian Church, Wellington South, December 29, 1915.
