SOLDIERS ON LEAVE

• ' TEE ACCOMMODATION DIFFICULTY. Many 6oldiers,_it is said, were unable to find beds in Wellington on Christmas Eve, but some steps were taken by tfab Defence authorities to provide against . just 'such a contingency. The Buckle Street barracks had been: placed absolutely at tbe disposal of the soldiers m [Wellington in need of sleeping quarters, and there was "shake-down" room m the large building for very many soldiers. During the New Year week-end there will doubtless be the same lack of accommodation tro.uble, and the Minister of Defence desires it to bo known that all the Defence Department's space in .the city is availablo for the use and accommodation of soldiers on leave.
