VICTORY AHEAD
MR, BONAR LAWS OPINION , By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) London, December 27. In reply to the "Sun" interviewer, Mr. Bonar Law said ho was confident victory was clearly ahead. Looking at the matter from the widest aspect, the outlook was distinctly promising, but, while he believed this was true, he was afraid of tho immediate future; indeed, for many months to' come, we wero more likely. to receive bad than_ good news, for the reason that, in. spite of these considerations, there is a belief that the resourcesiof the Allies are only now beginning to be made available on the Western front. There is-no scarcity of ammunition, therefore there is nothing to fear, and when the time comes there is much to hope for. Russia, also, is recovering. It seems unlikely that it will be in the power of Germany to repeat the invasion, which has now apparently ended. - News reaches us from every direction showing clearly that the economic effects produced by our sea power are beginning to be felt in Germany more and more every weak. The result of this will' tell against the Central Powers. Of ono thing wo are certain, that here in the Mother Country and in all the great Dominions the feeling of determination to carry on the war to a successful ond is stronger than the day war was declared.
