SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

Sailors in port celebrated Roxing Day in a- pleasant fashion, arranged by Mr. Moore, of the Sailors' Friend Society. A picnic was hold 011 tho propert-v of tho Countess of Glasgow at AVadestowu, }\herp all kinds of sports were entered into by tho Iftt'gc number of sailors present. The following were prizewinners Miss Scatehard, Messrs Parnell, Blackmail, Cameron, Sullivan Underwood, Spicer, Jasner, Durrnnt, Messenger, IVdersen, Sliimmen. In the evening friends rendered songs and re-cital-ions, which were highly uppreciaeon. A conundrum competition was entered into, and the prizes, winch were donated by friends, were presented by Misses Kreeft and Morrnh. A. nio!;t enjoyable day was concluded bv tiic singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
