Ford's expedition was a German plot, of which Mr. Ford was the victim. The plan was hatched two months ago in Berlin, and Miss. Schwimmer was designated ■to sccure a rich American to finance the trip. It was hoped that Sweden would officially receive the mission, and then Mr. Bryan could be brought to meet the King. Finally Herr von Bethmann Hollweg would invito Mr. Bryan and the mission to Berlin. 'Mr.' Ford returns disillusioned. The Exchango Telegraph Company's agent at Copenhagen states that Mr. Ford has sailed for America aboard tlio Hergeusfjord, realising that it is impossible to make headway. Before leaving he gave a cheque for a million kroner (£57j200) to finance an expedition under a committee of five. The party is continually at loggerheads. Miss Bosiki Schwimmer persuaded Mr. Ford that the Scandinavian Government was ready to assist him. When. Mr. Ford found all the official doors closed he broke down. BERLIN PEACE RIOTS MORE SERIOUS THAN AT FIRST REVEALED Amsterdam, December 26. The "Telegradf" says that the recent demonstrations in Germany were more serious than at first revealed.
