FIGHTING IN ALSACE STRUGGLE FOR A RIDGE HEAVY GERMAN LOSSES By Telegraph—Frew Association— Con jrlElt (Rec. December 25, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, December 23. A French communique says:—The enemy resultlessly counter-attacked at Hartmannsweilorkopf. We continued to progress on the right. Unofficial accounts. state that the attack was important, as the enemy are coflcentrating largo forccs ■in Alsace, with a view to the offensive. A Berlin wireless claims that the 82nd Landwher Brigade recaptured the summit. The enemy suffered extraordinary and sanguinary losses, and loft 23 ofliccrs and 1540 men prisoners. We are now clearing the northern slope. Our losses wero 1100. ALL POSITIONS HELD AT HARTMANNSWEILERKOPF (Ree. December 25, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, December 24. A French communique Btates : —We hold all the captured ground in the centre and right, over two kilometres of front, on the sonth-east of the summit of Hartmannsweilerkopf.
