INCREASE IN WAGES
'FOR SEAMEN. As indicated in yesterday's Dominion, the recent demand of the Federated Seamen's Union of New Zealand for an increase in wages has been granted, and the agreement w ; as signed by the Shipowners' Federation and the union at 10 o'clock yesterday' morning. Following are the rates of wages (an increase of £1 6s. per .month and a uniform rate of overtime): — £ s. d. Boatswains 10 5 0 Quartermasters 9 5 0 Lamp-trimmers 9 5 0 Lamp-trimmer and- able seaman 10 5 0 Able seamen 9 5 0 Ordinary seamen (18 years or over) 7 5 0 Ordinary seamen (under 18 years) 6 5 0 Donkeyman (four-hour watches) ) 12 5 0 Fireman (four-hour watches) 11 5 0 Greasers (four-hour watches) 11 5 0 Trimmers (four-hour- watches) 9 5 0 Storekeeper and greaser four-hour watchcs) 11 5 0 Storekeepers 11 5 0.
