WELLINGTON HARBOUR
MEETING OF THE BOARD,
A meeting of the Wellington Harbour' Hoard was held last night. There were present: Messrs. C. E. Darnell (chairnian), H, L. Nathan, J". G. Harkness W. Cable, R. A. Wright, M.P., W. T Hildrcfil, J. W. M'Ewan, J. G. Cobbe," A. Macl'arlane, R. E. Sinclair, 11. Fletchor, and A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. M. Cohen.
Hie bank pass hooks showed a credit balance to current account of £40,757, to imprest account £1071, and on fixed deposit £60,000. The payments for the month under all headings were £24,004. Tho_ chairman reported that the construction of piles for the Pipitea Wharf had been commenced, and that about 40 had been completed to date.
Mr. R. A. Palamountain was appointed caretaker of the Potoiie boat sheltOJ, and ho was also nominated as a special constable.
It was decided, on the. recommendation of the Wharves and Accounts Committee, to reduce the price of water supplied to transports from 6s. Bd. to 3s. per 1000 gallons, as from January 1, 1916.
A resolution expressing appreciation of the valued services rendered to the board as member and chairman by the late Mr. Nicholas Rcid, and oxpresising also condolence with Mr. Reid's family, was affirmed.
The chairman wished 'members a Happy Christmas, although, as he said, it was scarcely a time'in the nation's history for merrymaking. He wished them, therefore, a quiet Christmas and a happy one.
