Mr. Asquith stated in \ho House of Commons,that in view of the widespread feeling in the House, the Government is reduciitg the life of Parliament to eight months. The amendment was carried by 158 to 23. [The above message is published as received. A cable message dated December 9 stated that the Government proposes to make the maximum life of a Parliament sis years, instead of five.]
