SAILORS FRIEND SOCIETY

Last night at the Sailors Friend Society aperies of-lantern slides' were shown by Mr. M'Clusky, views of London, Japan, and illustrated songs were shown. Mr. Miller presided at the piano. -, A hearty vote of thanks to the entertainers, and Messrs. Harrington's; Ltd., who kindly supplied the slides, was tendered, and responded to by Mr. M'Clusky. The committee is also forwarding for the men's Christmas dinner in camp 7521b. of Christmas' pudding, also its share of the cost of the dinner for 1500 men. '

Miss Butler, president of the Auckland Girls' Branch of the Victoria League, was entertained by the girls at an evening on Saturday, and was tho recipient of a book' of photographs of all who . took part in her play "Yesterday. and To-day," performed recently at a patriotic entertainnient, also a greenstone and silver paper-knife, a copy of her play printed: and bound by hand and illustrated with a number of excellent water-colour sketches of the principal characters was also presented her. Miss Butler is leaving for England shortly.
