DEATH FROM BTJENS. Palme/ston N., December 21. As the result of a seycro burning accident ten days ago, a young unmarried woman, named Hilda Grint died in the hospital. She was engaged in cooking on a. gas ring when her skirt ignvtod. Though the flames were quickly extinguished, she suffered severe burns, whioh resulted fatally. A soldier from Rangiotu Camp, William Whelan, aged S3, was found hanging from a tree in the Auckland Domain at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. His pulse Was .still beating when be was cut.down, but efforts to restore animation failed. Whelan was habitually abnormal in manner. Yesterday ho stated he would give himself up to the police, fearing that, lie would- be court-martial-led for conduct disrespectful to officers. There was no ground for his fears. DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. Auokland, December 21. A middle-aged woman, Mrs. E. C. Konaldson, was found dead in bed at Ponsonby. Death was due to heart failurq, following cancer.
