Secretary W. J. Stratton will. Teceive acceptances up till 9 p.m. to-morrow., The chestnut gelding Thoughtful, who raced consistently and was placed on several occasions lost season, is engaged in several events at the Taratahi meeting on Boxing Day. Ho will probably be started in the Maiden Plate, in which there iB anything but a strong field engaged. ' Nonno, who was bought by Trainer A.' Goodman from B. ,T. Mason, will Tace at the Clareville meeting on Boxing Day. Tho Achilles filly has an engagement in the Maiden Plate. Merrie Gain is doing smart work at Trentham, and will be a runner in the Taratahi Cup. The mare was runner-up to Stepney each day at Blenheim. The programme for the Summer Meeting of the Wellington Racing Club is well worthy of perusal by owners of racing 6tock. It i 6 framed on the same lines as last year, and there iB no stake of less value than 200 sovs. Secretary A. E. Whyte will take entries tip till 9 p.m. on Monday. Reports from Hastings state that tha injured jookey Jerry O'Connell, who was badly hurt at tha Spring Meeting of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club, is progressing satisfactorily, but it will be some time yet before he is 6een in the saddle again. Bunting,, of whom big things were expected at Woodville, will contest .' the Taratahi Cup, and will then go back to Hastings for the Hawke's Eay Jockey Club's New Year Meeting. - There has been a big falling out in some of tho minor events at the Manawatui meeting, but tho Cup and' Fitzher T bert Handicap have filled well. Only five horses have paid up in the Hurdles, and if the tracks are hard there may be some difficulty in gettipg a field for tho third Hurdle Race. As Ngapoto and Rewi Poto have been allowed to! drop out, it looks as if R. Johnston is going to do the Taranaki and Stratford meetings with his team. J. Munn is another prominent absentee, and his team will probably race at Hastings on January 1 and 3. Acceptances for the Stratford meeting ] •are due on Monday next. ' , ■ Owners who intend- racing their horses at the Porongahau meeting on December 27 should note that acceptances close on Tuesday night. Acceptances for the Marton meeting are due here on Tuesday. So far nothing definite has been decided about taking Theree, Two. Lights,, and Veronal back to Melbourne. If tho trio . aTe shipped it will not bo until well into the autumn. G. Jones has been quartered at. Hastings since he returned from Sydney with Diavolo.
