BULLET WOUND CAUSES DEATH.. A serious accident occurred at Island Bay,yesterdav morning, resulting in the death of Herbert. Henry Hobday, an apprentice in Mr. Walter Andrew's engineering works in Tory Street. Shortly after 6 o'clock; tho young man was handling a loaded revolver at his homo in Ribblo Street, when the oliarge ox- . ploded. The bullet struck him on the head, fracturing his skull. After he had been attended to by Dr. Kemp, he .was removed to the Hospital, where an operation was performed, and a portion of the bullet removed, but the patient gradually sank, and passed away at 4.30 p.m.. Deceased was 18 years of .1 age, and was a son of Mr. H. Hobday, chief engineer at the City Tramway Power Station. An inquest will be held. RAILWAY TRAGEDY. Mrs. J. A. Mitohell, of Inveroargill, •who was struck by a passing locomotive jt Petone Railway Station on Saturday, died at the Hospital at 3.20 p.m. yes-, terday. An inquest will be held. FALL OFF THE WHARF. It is understood that he was sitting on a wharf stringer, when he overbalanced and fell into the wafer, striking his head on a'coal-hulk which was berthed near by.
