The French Budget report estimate the expenditure for the first seventeen months of the war at 31,000,000,000 francs, of which the military expenses totalled 24,000,000,000 francs. The average of tlie monthly expenses latterly has been 1,814,000,000 francs. [31,000,000,000 franos is equivalent to £1,240,000,000.]
