KARORI'S WANTS
: ♦ A large portion of the western side of Aaron Borough can only be effectively and economically drained through the city of Wellington, owing to the conbguration of the land, and through the Sanitation and Water Supply Bill the City Corporation is empowered to do the work at the instance of tho Karon Borough Council. Since tho Act was passed no. action has been taken in the _mattcr ; except in the direction of preparing estimates. Owing to the accelerated growth of settlement in the part affected, this work is now said to bo one of urgency, and on Monday a deputation, consisting of Messrs. B. G H. Burn (Mayor of Karori), J. "\V. Heii. derson, W Skegg, and A.. Hamilton, called on fch© Mayor of Wellington, urgnig that the work should bo taken- in hand. ■ Burn said that the work was really an urgent one. He understood that the money could be raised at 5 per cent, with an additional 1 per cent, lor sinking fund. It might be oven possible to raise it at- a cheaper rate, and Karori would be glad if Mr. Luke could do anything in that direction. They were anxious to place tho loan proposal before the electors, and wanted to know bow to' proceed. Mr. Luke said he was anxious that tne work should proceed, and promised to make inquiries as to the possibility of raising a loan on reasonable terms., As soon after tho holidays as ■ possible he would bring the matter before the council, and then report to the Karori Council. '
