PETONE ROWING CLUB

The Pefcono Rowing Club opened its season very quietly oil Saturday, Mr. A. Anderson (vice-president), in the absence of the patron of the club, Mr. R. Mothes, through illness, making an appropriate speech. The Heretaunga Boating Club and the Wellington and Star Rowing Clubs were represented, and several events were got off between tesfms representing the above clubs and various "camp crews," • including the engineers of _ the 9th Reinforcements. It was intimated that several prominent club members had obeyed the country's call. Altogether, about 340 rowing men were in the various camps. The club races commence next Saturday.
