THE TALISMAN COMPANY
AN IMPORTANT SCHEME. A meeting of shareholders was recently held in Wellington, at which it was decided to have the head office of tho company transferred from London to New Zealand—probably Auckland-aiid steps were taken at that meeting to give effect to this decision. In September tho London board sent out a circular to shareholders, stating that "with the view ..of avoiding the payment of the English income tax on dividends distributed in New Zealand, your directors have been requests ted by the local board of Wellington, New Zealand, to take the necessary steps to alter tlie articles of association of the company so that the l direction of the company may be transferred to New Zealand, tour directors have consulted counsel on the question, and he has advised that, to carry the proposal into effect, it would be desirable for the company to rescind its present aTtioles of association mid adopt entirely new articles, which would provide for transferring the wholo control of the icompany to New Zealand under a New Zealand board." Steps are now being' taken to form a new company in New Zealand to take over the assets of the present company. The shareholders in the new company will be the same as those on the present register. The headquarters of the new'company will be in New Zealand. ' The change means that shareholders will be relieved of the present heavy English taxation, and that tho affairs of the company will be- controlled in the Dominion and not as at present in London. ' REPORT FOE NOVEMBER. During the month of November the Talisman Consolidated crushed and treated 2550 tons of ore for a yield of bullion valued at £14,302 6s. 9(1.
