The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.; report that at their monthly stock sale, held at Waikanae on December 7, they offered a fair ent.ry of cattle. A total clearance was made at ths following prices:—Good condition 3-year £teer», £11;--2-year steer, £6 Bs.; fat cows, £9; fat and forward heifers, £6; ,3-yoar empty heifers, £5; heifers with calves, £4 155.; hull. £5 10s. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency , Co., Ltd., report:—At Pa.hia.tua on Tuesday we had a large yarding of cattle,' including somo good lines of empty 2-year ieifers. but. with the exception of steers there whs very little-demand, and- a. number of linos were .passes out unsold. i'ifteenmontlis steers made £4135. to £5 9a.; backward do., SI 6s. to £3 55.; light fat cows, £8 to £8 10s.; forward store, cows, £6 325. to £6 17s. 6iJ.; medium do., £5 2?„; 2-year ■empty heifers, £3 Ids. to £5 45.; yearling do., -£1 ss. to £2 12s. 6d.; and bulls, to £3 10s.

Abraham and Williams report on their Johnsonvillo sale as follows:—There Voro good entries of prime bullocks and sheep, aud the prices realised were:—For prime heavy bullocks, £17, £18 7s. 6d. to £19; prime wethers, 245. At Burnsido 176 fat cattle were yarded, only a few peris, consisting of prime heavy cattle, the majority being medium weights, and prices were about 10s. below last week's rates.- Best bullocks, £18 10s. to £18; extra, to £20 2s. 6d.; medium, £13 10s., £15 10s.:- others, to £12 10s.; best cows and heifers, £10 to £11 155.; extra, to £14; medium, to £9; others, to £7. Fa.t Sheep—223s were penned, the large yarding beinp of. fairly good finality. The sale opened at p'riees about Is. below last, week's rates, and the decline increased as the -auction progressed, and values were about Is. 6d. lower at tho close. Best shorn wethers, 265. 6d. to 28s. 6d.; extra, to 325.; medium, 225. to 255.; others, to 215.; best woolly wethers, to 375.; extra prime, to 425.; best shorn ewes, 235. to 255.; extra, to 335. 3d.; medium, 18s., 205.; extra prime woolly ewes, to 395. 6d. THE IMPORTANT PEODUCT OF THE DAY. Extremely high prices were, paid for wool at the first Auckland Wool Salo of the season (25th November). Tho highest price for 'greasy wool during the sale was 21d. per lb. This price was paid for 11 bales of fine crossbred wool from the flock of Messrs. A. and E. O'Brien, of Putiki Bay. It is the record price ever paid at an Auckland Wool Sale.
