SUPREME COURT
THE STAR OF CANADA WRECK. His Honour Mr. Justice Hosking was occupied in the Supreme Court yesterday with the further {'hearing of the case in which J. J; Niven and Co., Ltd,, of Napier, are proceeding against the Salvage Association, Ltd., of London, for remuneration for services rendered in connection with the salvage operations .at the Star of Canada wreck near Gisborne. Sir John Find lay, K.C., with him Mr. D. R. Hoggard, appeared for the plaintiff company, while Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C.. with him Mr. W. C. Sproule, of Napier, appeared for the dependant association. Some particulars of the claim and the defence were published yesterday. Lengthy evidence is being called, and the case had not concluded last evening when the Court adjourned until 10 o'clock this morning.
BLENHEIM CRIMINAL SESSIONS

Blenheim, December 7. In the Supreme Court, Michael Peter Cork, a young man, was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment for theft and false pretence?. In the case of Albert Hears, charged with carnal knowledge, the jury disagreed. The retrial of Albert Mears on a charge of carnal knowledge resulted in a verdict of not guilty boing returned.
