- -'STATUTORY MEETING. ■ The statutory.meeting of the Dominion Farmers' Institute, Ltd., was 'held ill Wellington yesterday, and was .attended by shareholders from various parts of, the Dominion. 1 Sir James G. ~Wilson, president of tlie N.Z. Farmers' Union, occupied the chair. The business of the meeting was largely of a formal nature, connected with the flotation of the company. The chairman reported', that the site for a building had been secured, and it was proposed to proceed with the sclieme; As soon as the necessary shares ..had been subscribed, the erection of the building would be considered by the directors.

* The following directors were elected for the ensuing year: Sir James Wilson (chairman),' Mr. Ewen Campbell, Wanganui' (deputy chairman), Messrs. J. D. Hall (Hororata), G. W. Eelph

(Christchurch), G. W. Leadlcy (Asliburton), J.. Begg (llosgiel), R. I l '. Goultor (Blenheim), W. Howard Booth (Carterton), and A. Leigh Hunt ("Wellington) . Mr. D. A. S. Cowper ivas elected auditor. OUR SHEEP IN AMERICA IMPORTANT SUCCESSES GAINED. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has just received from the New Zealand Commissioner at San Francisco particulars of the successes gained by the New Zealand sheep which were sent forward from the Dominion in Sept-ember last to compete at the live stock competitions held in connection with the Panama Pacific Exhibition, early . in November. Following is a statement of the prizes which the sheep have secured :—'

C. H. Ensor, White Rock, Rangiora (three Corriedale rams and two Corriedalo ewes). —Two champions, one reserve champion, three first prize's, one second prize, one third prize. Win. Perry, Penrose, ' Masterton (four Romney rams). —One reserve champion, two first prizes, one second prize, ono fourth prize. A. Matthews, Waiorongamai, Featherstoii. (four Romney rams).—One champion, one first prize, one fifth prize. "

D. G. Wright, Windermoro, Winslow (four Romney rams).—One second prize, two third prizes, one sixth prize. G. E. Allen, Masterton (four Romney rams). —One second prize, one fourth prize. Wm. Perry, Penrose, Masterton (four Lincoln rams).—Two f fourth prizes.

The N[ew Zealand Commissioner reports that the sheep attracted great attention at the competitions.
