Next Tuesday, December 14, at the Town Hall, the Royal Wellington Choral Society trill bring, their 1915 season to a closo by performing "The Messiah" under the direction of Mr. (Bernard Paste, City Organist. An exceptionally strong cast of principals will appear. M. Sigurd Lestrup, the Danish oratorio and operatic baritone, lias been specially engaged for Handel's masterpiece, and a rare treat is being looked for in the baritone's singing °uch solos as "Why do the Nations," and "The Trumpet Shall Sound." Mrs. Rosewame, of Napier, is taking the contralto solos. Miss Nancy Rhodes, of Auckland, the soprano soloist, is reearded by many as the finest oratorio singer Auckland has turned out. Mr. Martin Duff, of Dunedin, is one of the best tenors in Australasia at" the present time, he having sung the tenor solos in "Elijah" some months ago for this society. A full rehearsal will be held in St. John's Schoolroom at 8 o'clock to-night. The box plan is now open at the Bristol. Arrangements are beine made to delay the mitt and Johnsonville trains till after the performance.
