■ . »——- ■ A discussion on the now. education districts took place at the Wellington Educational Institute meeting on Friday night._ The subject was introduced by' a remit for the annual conference from Wairarapa: "That the institute regrets Parlia» ~ ment's action in establishing nine education districtß, thus minimising tha possibilities of reform held out by tha scheme for creating larger education districts. The institute strongly urges that the Government takes further action to reduce the number of districts to seven,. if not to five." After 6ome discussion the remit was adopted in the- following form: — "That the institute regrets _ Parliament's action in establishing nine education districts, thus minimising tha possibilities of reform held out hy tha scheme for creating larger -education districts.- 'Die institute strongly urges the Government to abolish the present education districts, and place the control of education under a National Board of Education." 1 ;
