The Federal District Court liae found fcnreo high. officials and a subordinate officer of the- Hamburg-Amerika Line guilty of having violated the laws of, the United States by supplying German cruisers in the South Atlantic with eoal and other supplies early in the war.- The jury brought in a verdict of guilty on each of two indictments on a specifio charge of conspiracy to deceive and defraud the United States. The maximum penalty for each indictment is two years' imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand dollars. The fine and sentence were not imposed, as the Judge to-morrow will hear a formal motion by the defence to set aside the verdict and arrest judgment. The date of passing sentence will tihea be designated. THE SENTENCES. NOMINAL FINE ON THE COMPANY. (Rec. December 5, 5.6 p.m.) New York, December 4. Buenz Cotter and Hadhmeister, directors of the Hamburg-Amerika Line, were sentenced to eighteen months in the penitentiary. Poppinghaus was sentenced to a year, and the HamburgAmerika Company fined, nominally, at dollar. - ' Appeals are pending. RECALL OF CAPTAIN BOY-ED DEMANDED BY AMERICA Washington, December 3. The Secretary of State (Mr. Lansing) has'informed Count BernstorfE (German Ambassador) that Captain Boy-Ed is not persona grata at Washington, because of his connection with the "Hamburg' Amerika case.
