TELEGRAM TO "POPE BENEDICT VII."(Rec. December 3, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 2. Mr. Henry Ford has published rath the utmost solemnity the best joke of the peace mission. It consists of a long telegram to tl>e Pope, for Bis Holiness's co-operation, and addressed to Pope Benedict VII. Later, Kr. Ford learned that Benedict VII died in 993 a.d. Ho has decided to k;noro the jesters, who are pointing out that unless the belligerents have <i senso o:: humour he and his party will run a grave risk of being court-martialled and shot for attempting a direct appeal to the troops in the trenches to strike. 'The universities have declined to allow representative students to accompany the mission, and commented on the plan as a grotesque affair, which will accomplish nothing but ridiculo of the country.
