FEILDING MEETING STAKES WON BY EGYPT. MANIABOA' SCORES IN BIG HANDICAP. Coy Tcicgraph.-Special Correspondent.) ( Feilding, November 30. ] Tlie Feilding Meeting opened yesterday 1 in fine weather, but the, track was heavy. The totalisator handled .£18,521, as against .£17,125 on the first day of the corns- , ponding meeting last year. In the Aorangi Trial Plate the favour- , ite, l'ohehe, drew a bad position, and from an indifferent start Interlude rjnickJy shot out in front, with Arras and the next bunch.. Trickery, Topsy, and Coral King were left several lengths. Tango, Pohelie, Arras, anil Bjorneborg were all prominent at the home turn, but none of thein looke<l likely to overhaul , the deader, who was still about four lengths in front when the post ! was reached. Bjorneborg was another three lengths further back, with Arras, JMizoltor, and Pohelie next in order. Postillion stripped much above himself in the Plying Stakes Handicap, but he ran a wonderfully good race, and was prominent till the last 100 yards. Happiness jumped off in front, and led till well inside the distance, but she stopped quickly. Heather got a nice run on the fence at the distance; and won all out by a. neck from Coropett. Orleans was tho unlucky horse of the race, He did not begin too well, but was*, climbing over the top of everything at' the finish. Play Off, TCho was plnced fourth, also had bad luck, and was off the course at the home turn, The winner, is a greatly improved mare,' and had it not been for the 161b. penalty, incurred aK Blenheim she would have been one of the favourite selections. ManiaToa, who is a , better horso with the sting out of the ground, scored in tho bi» handicap after n good finish with Square Deal, who is now at his best. Imarose was a lenjjtli and a half away third, and then came Montana and Gold Fran. Montana was a good favourite, but he did not shape well,, and never looked like a winner. Combustion was in front passing the stand the first time, and he and ManiaToa • were at the head of affairs as they entered the straight, but the light-weight could not sustain his effort. Sir Solo is hardly ready yet, but he'ran a great race. Tangihou and Gold Stream were disappointing, That good stayer Master Strowan 6cored very decisively in the Spring' l Hurdles, in" which tho field was strung out badly at. the finish. Flingot acted well in the soft going, and when 'lie went to the front six furlongs from home'it looked good for him, but Master Sti'owan caught liini on the home brnd, and beat him'pointless. Glenorc'hy, who had been prominent ite whole way, was a poor third. .The others were beaten off. A bystander who was leaning over tha rails was struck by Naupata, and rendered unconscious. Naupata was a slightly better favourite than Master Strowan. The Hack Hurdles wet to an outsider in Kauwaroa, by Sensation. He carries the colours. of J. H. Pressor, and is a promising sort. To-day ho got left at the post, but in the race, though hard at it the whole way, he jumped faultlessly, and won after a great Tace with Epworth, Cyra and St. Gate, who finished in a line. Vladian and White Plume made the early. »unning, but, the former fell heavily, and White Plume stopped badly. Kauwaroa took command at the last fence, and, after a good finish, won by a length. An inquiry into some crossing at the turn took place. G. Marchant, rider of" the winner, was fined £$: Bimeter was always favourite in the Feilding Stakes, but he could not go the pace set-by Tino Atua, and after a great race lie did well to finish fourth, "being right. on the heels of the three placed two-year-olds, with no chance of getting out. Tino Atua was well fancied, and shn gave a lot of bother at the start. Sho did not get away too.well, but soon ran past Bimeter and Chakwana, who were the. first out. Flyiiig Spur was in second place on the bend, aud then camb Eoclcbound and Nystad, with Egypt following. Tino Atua led into the straight, but was soon joined by Nystad, and' thei* Egypt canio fast. on: the outside. - -In' a great finish the Tatter got his head in front, and Nystad also accounted for Tino Atua. Bimeter was on. 'their, heels, and then came Chakwana. So far the winner has not been out of a place, and it looks as if in hini Mr. T. H.. Lowry has tho 'best of juveniles. He gave the others a good start to-day, and then came on and beat them. ; The Kiwitea Welter Handicap was started half an hour behind time owing to the repented delays at the barriers. In this race Pursotiller and Master Lupin gave a lot of bother, buttbe dispatch was a good one. Crawford jumped out best, ami led round the top turn from Pursefiller and lady Amai. The latter joined Crawford at the distance, and after a ding-dong finish, she was only beaten by a head. Pnrsefiller was close up, anil then name Wild Lupin, Jem, Ineuru, and Hi? Eminence. A big field contested the Fitzroy Hack Handicap, and several of the well-backed candidates failed to get clear passages. When they settled down Ormesby ami Martyrcss- were promiment' at the 'head of a strung-out field. At the bottom of the Straight Mystified got up on the inner, and. after a close finish-with Lady Davlesford, she just won. • Seddul-Bahr, Martyress, and Bed Ribbon were prominent amongst the others.
