'Although there appears a somewhat firmer tone in tho wheat market, due chiefly to the effects o? the weather of last .week on the crops, there is no demand for Wheat, and there is none offering. A line of good milling wheat was recently sold-by formers with, difficulty at 4s. sd. at a country station after' having vainly endeavoured to obtain 4s. 6d. Whet Bales that are being made for the North Island' ere of grain in stoic. Farmers holding wheat are not offering, and there is no disposition on the part of merchants i--/> jnillers to add-to their, present . stocks. 6hould no rain fall during the coming month the outlook .for most crops right through to Oamoru will bo seriout. The only districts where the crops are. better off regarding moisture are' tho6e near 1 the -hills where there have been more 6howers, end on the loamy soils on the plains where ■the showers have penetrated ,to the roots of the plants there are also promising crops of grain.
