SLACKNESS IN RECRUITING
CAUSE: CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.
"Well, it is Christmas," said tho Prime Minister yesterday, in reply to a question about the slackness in recruits ing. "The Defence authorities are of opinion that-' the present slackness in recruiting'-is owing to the near approach of tho Christmas holidays, and that when tho holidays are over matters. will get back to normal again." Mr. Allen, the Defence Minister, said that a spurt in enlistments for the infantry for the month of December was needed. LATEST ENLISTMENTS.
