CARTERTON NOTES
'The continued unsettled weather in tl/o Carterton district is hampering shearing operations. A large party of volunteer carpenters proceeded to Taulierenikau on Saturday, nnd assisted in the erection of tho Y.M.C.A. Social Hall there.
On Saturday a large quantity of basic slag and other small sacks wero dispatched to Wellington, from Carterton. These bags are given by tho settlers for tho use of tho troops as sand-bags, and aro prepared and. sorted by willing helpers under tho auspices of tho Carterton Lady Livorponl. Comniittee. Master Warrick Lindop, who several weeks ago fractured a log through being pnslicd oiF a bicycle during child's play, lias sufficiently recovered to 'bo able to returh to his' homo - from the Mastbrton Hospital, wliero ho was under treatment.
