NO. 2 HOSPITAL SHIP
WANGANUI DONATES £600.
Yesterday afternoon His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) received a telegram from Mr. T. B. Williams, of Waliganui, stating that the Wanganui Patriotic Society had decided to donate tho sum of £fioo to the No. 2 Hospital Ship Fund. Without counting that amount, tho contributions previously received amounted to £1203 14s. 9d VJ so that £1803 14s. 9d. of the £3000 required is now assured: Mr. Luke says it would bo a gratifving thing if the whole of U ellington's quota could be made up before the Marama sailed from these waters, and as this fund is one that is common to the whole of the Wellington district, [hero is not tho slightest reason why that wish should not be- consummated within the next week or two, without making a call on any of tho other standing funds. We shall be pleased to_ acknowledge any contributions sent in to tho No. 2 Hospital Ship Fund, and pay the same over to the Mayor. His Excellency tho Governor has informed the Major that the Wairarapa Bociety intends to contribute £500.
