At the half-ycariy meeting of the Bank 'of New South Wales, the not profits were 'shown to. be £230,939, and with undivided profits making a total of' £336,065..- A. dividend at the Tate of 10 per cent. was ; clared, £50,000 added to ■ the . reserve, and £111,C65 carried ■ forward " .The chairman .pointed, out.that the deposits were nearly 31 million above last ■year, "the increase being .partly duo to the waiting attitude, of some in' the community in regard to spare funds.' Ho mentioned there was an'increase of £82,000 in the bank's note circulation in New Zealand, ?nd stf t«d + h*t while the Australian sea/eons were divided botwecn good and bad, Kc.v Zealand was experiencing a very prosperous tinio, the exports showing a large surplus over imports. The directors propose to increase the canita-1 to four million by issuing a halfmillion worth of new shareß, which will be distributed ftmong shareholders pro rata at par. The new capital is to be invested in the Federal War. Loan.
