NORTHCLIFFE PRESS AGAIN
DISCUSSED IN BRITISH PARLIAMENT By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrijrht (Rec. November 26, 10 p.m.) Uondfin, November 25. Sir John Simon (Hom6 Secretary)/ in reply to a question concerning the article in the Russian newspaper "Russky Slott'o," thanked Mr. Terrell, his questioner, for drawing attention to this striking illustration of the advantage the enemy seemed to gain from a section of the British newspapers and their comment, and added that the matter was under considerafion. In reply to a further ■ question he quoted the article (which, as previously cabled, reads as follows): — "The newspapers lay . a heavy responsibility oti the Northcliffe Press for tihe failure of the diplomacy of the Entente Powers in the Balkans: After 'The Times's' and 'Daily Mail's' quarrel with tho English Government, they systematically began to blacken ouv military and diplomatic measures, and foretell tho failure of the Allies. . The Germans made wide use of this campaign for their own .propaganda in Greece, Rumania, and Bulgaria, and the Wolff's Agency disseminated Colonel Repington's articles with a view to proving that the Endisli Tecognjse their deficiency in military organisation. The r/ipers in Rumania and Greece are filled with t/lio 'Dailv Mail's' and 'TimosV comments, published at German expense."
