The general public sympathised and ,expressed commendable, or the way in elements, and the-response to their appeal on Saturday-is, sure to be liberally rewarded. ..In. addition; to/ the;; sale of Gallipoli badges,i.flbiye'rs;' and produce, a novel and altogether-new scheme lias been arranged—by a sub-cbriimitteo consisting of Messrs. -C.-.G; .Wilson, M. C'arr, J. F. Atkins, and Paape—by what will be known as the Gallipoli surprise [mckete. Tho committee •' have been alotcd a considerable sum of money, by the executive, and this is to be distributed m Gallipoli anvelnpos'in'the form of coin, postal notes, and stamps. In addition, orders for a silver watch and many other valuable prizes, : will. bo given away, and every 'envelope'will contain.a prize. The Roseheath school choir,, under the direction'of Mr. R, Darroohj will sing patriotic songs in the City in the morning. The Drum and Fife Band,' 42nd Company, and other bands will play at the Basin Reserve in the afternoon, and on Saturday evening Mr. Lyon's party will entertain the multitude in the streets of the City.
