A BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

DR.'S ANSON & DE LAUTOUR

A board comprising two well-known medical men, Dr. G. E. Anson and Dr. H. A. Do Lautour, has been appointed to aot as supervisors of the rejection of recruits at Trentham oamp. The supervision will consist of saying finally whether recruits passed by outside "loctors, but whose fitness is questioned when tney reach Trentliam camp, shall or shall not be rejected. Dr. Anson was born in Sudbury, Derbyshire, England, and was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated B.A. in 1874, and M.A. in 1878. He took his medical degree in 1889. When lie came out to the colonies lie landed first at Melbourne. After he came to New Zealand he became second master at Wnnganui College, and subsequently returned to England. Whilst at Home ho became house surgeon at St. Thomas's Hospital, PLondon. Returning to New Zealand, Dr. Anson at once began to practice his profession in Wellington. For some 20 years ho has held the position of chief medical officer in Now Zealand to the Australian Sfiftual Provident Society, and ho is also an hon. physician to Wellington Hospital.

Dr. De Lautour was born in Bengal in 1849, and was educated at Cheltenham College and King's College, London. He was house surgeon at King's College Hospital in 1874, and associate of King's College in 1875. Coming to New Zealand, ho settled .in Oamaru, and was for several years surgeon of the focal hospital. He took an active part in volunteering,' holding the position of brigade surgeon, lieutenantcolonel in 1895. He passed his proficiency examination at i the War Office in 1897, and was principal medical officer of the Otago district in 1898.
